Cattlers of Satan is a resource-based trading game where players take on the role of ranchers in hell, wrangling demonic cattle, building infernal ranches, and outsmarting their opponents. What became a 2.5 year long endeavor, I designed and launched two editions of the game (the first on Etsy and the second with Kickstarter) ultimately selling over 100 copies.
The idea for Cattlers of Satan started as a playful concept, which I developed into a fully realized game over the course of a year and a half. I began by creating early prototypes, including laser-cut wooden boards and hand-painted pieces for a limited run of 14 sets. Encouraged by overwhelmingly positive feedback, I refined the design and launched a Kickstarter campaign in June 2024, where I exceeded my funding goal by 286% with the support of 66 backers. From there, I oversaw every step of the process: fine-tuning gameplay mechanics, coordinating production, and handling logistics for delivering the game to supporters.
As the creator, I was involved in every aspect of the project, from initial concept and game design to marketing and fulfillment. This project sharpened my skills in product development, crowdfunding, and small-scale manufacturing, while also teaching me the value of community engagement in building excitement and trust around a creative project. Most importantly, I learned how rewarding it is to see an idea transform into a tangible product that others can enjoy.
